The year 2025 marks a significant milestone in the history of relations between Indonesia and China. In addition to commemorating 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the 70th anniversary of the Asia-Africa Conference in Bandung, this year also marks the 620th anniversary of Admiral Zheng He's maiden voyage and the 5th anniversary of sister-city cooperation between Shanghai and Jakarta. To commemorate these historic events, an exhibition titled "Miles Apart, Close at Heart" was held, bringing together stories of the past and the spirit of the present within a framework of harmonious cultural exchange.

The exhibition is divided into four main sections. The first section, “Maritime Glory, the Great Voyages,” depicts the prowess of Zheng He’s expeditions that sailed the world’s waters, including the Indonesian archipelago. The second section, “Traces of the Fleet: The Maritime Silk Road,” explores the crucial role of Zheng He’s voyages in establishing cross-cultural trade and diplomatic networks. Meanwhile, “Cultural Treasures: Dialogue Between Civilizations” presents the rich cultural heritage born from the encounters of two great civilizations. Finally, “Continuing the Spirit, Guiding the Future” invites visitors to reflect on the importance of cooperation and friendship in building a better future.
