The 80th Indonesian Independence Day commemoration ceremony will take place at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta and is open to the public. Eighty percent of invitations will be given to citizens so they can experience the atmosphere of the state ceremony firsthand. For those unable to attend the Palace, the celebration will also be held at the National Monument (Monas) Monument. The event at Monas will feature various folk competitions, entertainment stages, free culinary offerings from micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and a spectacular fireworks display in the evening.

On August 17, 2025, all public transportation modes in Jakarta, including TransJakarta, the MRT, LRT, and KRL, will charge a symbolic fare of just Rp80. This is the perfect opportunity to get around the city at a super low cost while celebrating a historic day.
