Galeri Kertas is an art space in Depok that provides a platform for local artists to showcase their work and learn about exhibitions. Under the leadership of Mr. Kiki, the current manager, the gallery continues the vision of its predecessors to provide an open space for artists, especially those from Depok and the surrounding area.

The name "Galeri Kertas/Paper Gallery" was originally chosen because its initial focus was on paper-based artworks. However, over time, the space has evolved and is now open to a wider variety of works in a wider range of media. "Now, it's not just paper; all forms of artistic creation can be exhibited here," said Mr Kiki.

In its curation process, Galeri Kertas employs a unique approach. There are no specific criteria artists must meet. Kiki conducts the selection directly through dialogue with the artists. He strives to understand the background and meaning of the works he intends to display. "I look at the story, the meaning, and of course, whether or not the work is interesting to me," he explained.

The primary goal of the Galeri Kertas is to provide a space for Depok's large, yet underserved arts community. The gallery's primary focus is to highlight the fact that Depok boasts an active art gallery scene comparable to those in Jakarta. The hope is that Galeri Kertas will also attract attention from outside the city, while strengthening Depok's identity as a vibrant arts scene.
