Amidst growing awareness of the importance of environmental preservation, a local brand has emerged that not only produces aesthetically pleasing items but also embraces a sustainable mission. This is Palka Art Craft, the official store of Palka Kreatif, a studio known for its innovative paper recycling process into high-quality paper goods.

The beginning

Palka Art Craft is an extension of Palka Kreatif, a creative studio focused on processing waste paper into recycled paper and upcycled paper. Since its founding in 2012, Palka Kreatif initially focused on bookbinding. However, over time, they realized the significant amount of paper waste generated by the production process. This prompted them to begin experimenting with paper recycling, especially when the 2020 pandemic provided the opportunity for further exploration.

The products they produce are diverse, ranging from journals and pocketbooks to greeting cards and business cards, all embodying the values of sustainability and handicraft. Palka Art Craft serves as the official showcase for these products and a collaborative space for other artists with similar values and visions.

The name "Palka" is derived from a nautical term meaning "hull," the main storage space on a ship. Although initially used without realizing its true meaning, this philosophy later seemed to align with the spirit of Palka: to serve as a storage container. Not just for storing goods, but for storing stories, memories, and human emotions in the form of journals and other creative products.

Eco-Friendly and Circular Production

One of Palka's strongest identities is its commitment to the environment. All production processes are conducted based on environmentally friendly principles and circular production. This means that production waste is not thrown away but instead processed into new materials.

Waste paper, scraps from bookbinding processes, and even leather waste from other industries are processed into new, artistic and functional products. In addition to paper, natural materials such as dried flowers, leaves, and even banana stems are used as artistic elements in their products. Furthermore, Palka avoids the use of environmentally harmful synthetic materials.

Various Handmade Products

At Palka Art Craft, almost all products are handmade by local artisans. Their primary products are journals and paper goods, but they don't stop there. Palka also offers accessories, key chains, charms, bags, hats, and much more.

Embracing three core principles: natural, local, and upcycled, each Palka product is not only functional and aesthetic, but also embodies sustainability and uniqueness. Handmade value extends beyond the manual process, but also to the human thought and creativity involved in each product.

Interestingly, Palka Art Craft doesn't just sell Palka Kreatif products. They also provide a platform for other artisans to collaborate and sell their products. In this way, Palka has become a creative ecosystem that supports local crafts and expands the environmental awareness movement.
